Gutter Cleaning & Minor Repair in Jacksonville

Half of what shortens a Florida gutter's life isn't dirt — it's the small mechanical failures nobody sees: loose hangers, tired corner seals, settled slope. We fix those during the cleaning, and we don't sell installations, so our diagnosis has no agenda.

Cleaning-visit repairs

What wet debris does to gutter hardware here

A trough full of waterlogged oak compost weighs several times what dry northern leaves do, and it hangs that weight on your hangers through every summer storm. The failure sequence is predictable: hangers loosen, the run settles flat, water stands, weight increases, and eventually the gutter pulls from the fascia — usually taking paint and sometimes wood with it. Every step of that sequence is cheap to interrupt early and expensive to ignore.

That's why our cleaning includes a hardware pass, not just a debris pass: we sight every run for pitch, push-test the hangers, and check seams and end caps while the trough is empty and problems are visible.

  • Loose hangers and spikes re-secured; missing hangers flagged
  • Leaking seams, miters, and end caps resealed with gutter-grade sealant
  • Settled sections re-pitched toward the downspout
  • Fascia and drip-edge checked for the water-behind-the-gutter pattern

Corners collect debris and stress seams — we clear them by hand and check the miter seal every visit.

Repair questions we hear every week

What gutter repairs can be done during a cleaning?

The high-value small stuff: re-securing loose hangers and spikes, resealing leaking end caps and seams, reattaching separated downspout sections, and correcting minor slope problems that leave standing water. These take minutes while we're already on the ladder.

What we don't do is replace gutter runs or sell installations — if a section is beyond repair, we'll photograph it, say so plainly, and you can take that to an installer with no pressure from us. A cleaning company that also sells installs has a reason to find problems; we don't.

Why does my gutter leak at the corners even when it's clean?

Corners — miters — are the hardest-working seams in a sectional system, and Jacksonville's heat cycles work the sealant loose over the years. A clean trough that drips at the corners after rain usually needs the miter joints resealed, a quick repair we handle on the spot.

One caution: a corner drip can also be water tracking behind the gutter from a flashing gap above it. We check which one you actually have before sealing anything, because sealant can't fix a flashing problem.

What does standing water in a clean gutter mean?

Slope. Gutters should fall roughly a quarter inch every ten feet toward the downspout; hangers loosen over time — especially under the weight of wet Jacksonville debris — and sections settle flat or backward. Standing water after rain in a debris-free trough is a pitch problem, not a cleaning problem.

Left alone, that standing water breeds mosquitoes, accelerates corrosion at the seams, and adds constant weight that loosens the hangers further. Re-pitching a settled section is usually a matter of adjusting or adding hangers — a small fix that adds years.

Water is running behind my gutter, down the fascia — what is that?

That's usually a drip-edge or flashing gap: rain follows the shingle underside, misses the trough, and tracks down the fascia board. It rots fascia fast in our humidity, and no amount of gutter cleaning fixes it because the water never enters the gutter at all.

During every cleaning we look for the telltale vertical staining on fascia behind the gutter line. Catching it early is the difference between a strip of flashing and a carpenter replacing rotten boards.
