Do you clear the flat roof drains on an Ortega Mediterranean Revival house?
Yes. Many Mediterranean Revival houses pair a tile main roof with flat sections over porches, loggias or sunrooms, ringed by a low parapet. Those sections drain through scuppers cut in the parapet wall or a small drain in the deck, and a few handfuls of wet debris, mostly oak leaves and Spanish moss, can seal either one.
A clogged scupper spills nowhere you would notice. Water ponds behind the parapet, soaks into the stucco, and finds its way into the ceiling of the room below, often as water damage you see months after the clog started.
